wiring question
« on: August 18, 2007 - 02:04:50 PM »
I bought a new engine harness from Year one for my 71 challenger electronic ignition. The old one just used the single ballast (looks like a couple of wires left hanging.  Should I get a double ballast resister or does it not matter?

I believe you need the dbl since the other 2 would supply 12v when cranking

as long as you use the 4 pin ECU the 2 pin ballast is fine

From what I remember I used a dual connector for the extra wire on the ignition side. I believe there was one wire you don't need. Check the instruction or Chryco will know.

you will have dark blue twinned to two terminals on one end & brown & dark green on the other end , you do not use the dark green & either dark blue can be disconnected

Look in "The Rest of Tech" area for a thread called "wires from ignition box to where?" thread. There's a couple of diagrams for 5 pin ECU's if that's what you have.

that's good info. If you need it I think I have one out in the garage from my Challenger ignition.
