Adding a new section possible?
« on: July 09, 2007 - 01:01:13 PM »
How about a new section for tools/shop equipment that members of c-c.com have used to repair/restore their rides? Hopefully, this may help members decide which tools are worth considering and which maybe junk.

Just an idea. Let me know if it has merits.

Since I've been here, I've probably seen around 30-40 posts about tools, creepers and what-not. That's 4 years worth. I just don't think there would be enough threads or posters to justify a new section. You can post in "Off Topic" or "The Rest" and ask there. New forum boards are easily made in Admin, takes just over a minute to make.

There used to be an article in Car Craft many years ago on the back page called "it worked for me"
Gave really good ideas from readers input and told on how to fix something that you would've never thought of before.

Possibly include ideas on what worked better for you and how it came out.
i.e. use this tool instead of what you thought or was told works.

Topcat, Ksierens:

That's the idea I had in mind - let's see if one of the admins thinks it's worthwhile too.

I think that if we had it more poeple would use it, the problem with the off topic section is things get buried in it really fast  :2cents:

I don't see many threads about tools...don't know if it's worth it.  Other mods, please chime in...

Maybe Tools/Tricks for not just tools but any good ideas/ easy ways to do certain projects but maybe it`s already covered in the different tech sections?  :dunno:

torred,
That's a good idea too - I think my original idea about which tools work would go together well with your idea too. Maybe the section could be named something like: Tools & tricks that work.

I think we are pretty heavy on boards already but that Tricks @ Tools  idea aint bad.

Mabe we could do something with the "Proven Engine Combos" board since it just lays around sleeping  :naughty:

I think it's a good reference point....when I was first thinking of building my 440, I didn't know where to go, I started there and still kind of use it as a reference point for things.  Just my  :2cents:
