The console seems to be the same but the upper plate
hole for the shifter is quite a bit bigger on the four speed then on the auto

there is a notch in the bottom lip of the console so there is clearance for the shift boot so it doesn`t get torn

Hi,

You can use an auto console if you make a new top plate out of thin wood or metal.  The hole for the shifter is larger and in a different location. The openning in the plastic top half of the console seems to be the same.  If you cut a top plate out of metal, wood grain decals are plentiful and you can use it as a template.   The notch in the side of the bottom half would be a bit harder without a real one to copy.

Hope this helps,
