Re-Painting Cuda Door Emblems

The black paint on the edges of my 'Cuda interior door emblems is aged and has chipped off in some spots.  I've had no trouble finding a solvent to remove the old paint, but what would be the best way to repaint the edges of the emblems without painting the chrome face [letters]?  If I used a brush, it might look sloppy!?!

I'd paint with flat black, then use a q-tip with alcohol, thinner,  or other non harsh solvent to remove the paint from the face of the lettering. If the emblems are plastic, be sure to test on the lettering first. Cant remembeir if mine were metal or plastic when I did them

If you get a good quality brush and some good flat black paint, "Testor's Model Masters" for instance, I bet you can do it by hand.

There's probably a hard edge between the black and chrome parts, no? The brush should just follow this line.

I'm picturing my Challenger's door emblems, and I'm thinking the 'Cuda ones are the same.

The badge is metal and the paint is water soluable, so if you screw up the 1st time, just wash it off before it sets and try again.

Steady hands are helpful, though. :-)

Why not just put a very light coat of vasoline on the very top edge.  Then spray several light coats of flat black, let dry and wash the vasoline off.
Any black that got on the face will wipe off easily.  Kinda messy though..............


Maybe an even easier way would be to spray the whole emblem black and then use a rag with a little laquer thinner on it to wipe away the paint on the face only leaving the chrome showing on top.  The rag should be made of that fancy table napkin cloth and not just a cotton rag that leaves little hairs

I have one crappy aftermarket emblem I can practice with.  I just needed some advice from the **EXPERTS** on this board.

I appreciate you guys chiming in.  Hopefully, I can get this car looking decent again!
