Card Scammers!!
« on: May 16, 2008 - 09:54:33 PM »
Went to get gas today using my VISA ATM card and was denied. At first I thought they might be dumb clerk and/or dirty card reader machines. So I left and went to another, Same thing. Now I knew something was fishy. I had the funds. So after calling my bank and being tossed around till the 5th person to talk to, they tell me your ATM account #'s had been compromised. Meaning nothing happened yet but I'm in a pool of a whole bunch of others who were compromised also. So everybody during whenever day this happened before, gets their ATM cards shut down also.

Hope they catch these low lifes.  :villagers:

I got a call from a place in Chicago once asking if I had ordered a bunch of sports crap to be sent to Taiwan. Crackheads with number generators can cause a big mess. I am glad they did not just send the order through. Hope you get your ATM card back up and running.

And how

We get police notices constantly about the latest way of defrauding you...they are changing pin pads in debit machines at banks and retail...

And credit card fraud has skyrocketed too !!

It's scary to use anything but cash these days...

I shred EVERYTHING even the junk mails...they sometimes have a lot of information about you even if it is a mass mail and you wouldn't want that to get into the hands of the professional garbage pickers

Hope no information was stolen from you Topcat

A grocery store I was shopping at a few weeks ago had their card swipe system switched by some scammers. They caught them down in L.A. a week later. I'm pretty sure this store is the place that reported it to my bank. No unknown new charges showed up so I think I'll be O.K. The bank must've shut my card off just for preventative measures.
