paint prep for master cylinder

k so ia'm gettin ready to paint the master cylinder (off car) and was wondering the best method for removing the surface rust..... can it be blasted?

Yes it can be media blasted....just be sure to plug all the openings first to prevent contamination of the inner works.

Also try cleaning it with a good metal prep acid, this will help remove any light remaining rust and clean off any fluid that maybe on it.

or,,, you could clean it good with marine clean and give it a coat of black por15 :dunno:
