Seal Material

I am looking to buy some of the white foam like material that is used to seal various light fixtures, gas tank filler to rear  panel, etc.. The stuff I am looking for is like a white foam rubber product and is, guessing, about a 1/8 inch thick and very easily compressible. I need this to cut some of the seals myself in order to save a bit of money.
Does anyone know a source to buy this stuff in, say a 1 or 2 feet square chunk that I can cut for my own gaskets? Or, can anyone suggest an alternative to this stuff?

I think others have posted that you can get this material from your local art supply stores. I think it is called closed-cell foam.

 In Canada it is used under sill plates in construction. Avalible in any building supply store. Cheap.

At the Hobby Lobby in the children's craft section they have sheets of the closed cell foam
in different colors, including black & white, in a couple of different thicknesses. dollar or less a piece.   Some of the OE seals are of this or a similar material while some are of a courser foam but this stuff fills the bill.
