Solid roller cam grind using Hydraulic roller lifters
« on: July 23, 2007 - 06:46:06 PM »
Now i know this sounds kinda stupid. But i have a relatively mild solid roller set up in my cuda 360. 236in 242ex .551 .561. on a 110. This car is mostly a weekend warrior street car. Is it possible to drop in a set of hydraulic roller lifters on this cam grind. It was a new billet core. The block is a 308 headed pre-magnum out of an 88 d250. Therefore i have the tall bosses and the spyder tray. Would be a very easy swap. I am just sick of the noise and valve adjusting. Thanks all for you help. Love the site.

I guess you could try it but typically the ramps are different & I bet the hyd lifters collapse under the load

The cam blank is billet. The rollers will wear the lobes off in very short order because the taper means the roller is only on a very small part of the lobe. I did it when I was 18 (88). I really, dont recommend you try it...lol. :violin:

I would go with a hydraulic roller cam and valve springs from Hughes Engines.  You might be able to run the stock hydraulic roller lifters but I would ask Hughes.
