Missing Fender Tag Question?
« on: July 25, 2007 - 05:09:42 PM »
Hello All!  I am looking at a 70 'Cuda was originally a 383 car has a 440 now. But the problem i am having to figure out value is that it is missing both the fender tag and broadcast sheet. Do you guys think it brings the price down lots with the missing tag? Here is the cuda i am looking at. http://www.cudaworld.com/adDetail.asp?cat_id=9&sub_id=0&ad_id=1662  I think the price is high with the age of the resto and missing tag. What do you guys think it is worth? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Being obvious the car is far from original does remove "full" market value. Thus being modified makes the absense of fender tag and build sheet somewhat less important in this case, unless your desire is to restore to factory. But if your only looking for a car for personal enjoyment this sure would fill that mandate. Price? What do we say? It's worth what you or anyone is willing to spend.  The site disclaimer is sound advice, perhaps a member from Mi. near the car can inspect it further for you. Good luck.

Since you already know it doesn't have it's original engine, I really don't see where having the original fender tag and build sheet mean much. There might have been other changes done along the way too. Just my opinion.  :2cents:

To start with the car is a Barracuda, BH. A Cuda is BS and Grand Coupe is BP. To know about the tag I would first check with Barry A.K.A. Alaskan_TA.  His email is in his profile.  He may have some info on the car.  From there you could research the car.  You can most likely find out everything you need with the exception of the build date.  For this you will need someone who has a collection of dates, such as Barry or Galen.  Long story short. It is a time consuming effort and can be a costly one.  With this in mind I would say it does decrease the value of the car by not having the tag.  At this time I do not know if a Barracuda is worth the trouble to properly do a tag.  The car looks like it has potential as a driver.

The first thing I would check is the other VINs. What about the door tag and the radiator support?  What about the number on the cowl ?  What's up with the blurry VIN tag pic.

If all these things match then it's probably not a rebody  :dunno:

As far as the value goes I agree with everyone else.  Someone might pay 25Gs  :clueless:
