I will be modifying my door panels with a fiberglass pod covered in white leather grain vinyl to match the door panel. I have already installed aftermarket power windows so they regulator is not in the way. The component pod will be bolted to the steel of the door so it will be solid. I will use the center speaker location on the dash to mount a center surround speaker. I will use a 3 way component set and have a surround system. As far as I know Alpine is the only manufacturer that makes a true surround system for cars but by the time I can afford it everyone will probably be making them lol. I will put either a couple of 8 w7 subs or a single 12 w7 sub in the trunk. My neon has a 12 w7 and I love it. My neon used to have 2 component sets (Boston Z-6 and Pro's) with a 300/2 and 450/4 JL slash amps. I have a 500/1 for the sub. I toned it down(JL ZR comp set and took out the 300/2) but it still gets crazy loud and plays as clean as a whistle. The place I am stuck is on the charging system. I will have to have at least 150 amp alternator and I am going to have to isolate and split most of the power to run a system of that size. On a late model it is cake because the system can take it with a few simple wire upgrades but I am lost when it comes to the old cars and I am fearful when I hear of alternator gauges catching fire
Sorry to carry on but I do love car audio.
