Close but funny call today

Driving my 'cuda home from picking up some wings when a young 15 or so year old young lady pulled right in front of me...and stopped.

She had been trying to pull into a shopping center but missed the turn.  So, she found herself just stuck there.  I had plenty of time to stop, but dad was looking out at me with ever widening eyes.  I could read the expression on this face.  Wow, if I'm going to have a wreck I don't want to be hit by a classic like that.

I just stopped and waved till the shaking girl managed to back the car out of my lane and proceed somewhat abashed down the road.

Any other close calls?

I had a close call once, but not in my car.  I was towing a trailer with 7000 lbs on it with my half ton.  A guy in a big Ford pulled right, and I mean right in front of me with his truck, right before a red light.  My brakes were locked up for about 30 feet and I came to rest 6" off his rear bumper.  I started yelling at him out the window, I was just about to get out and talk to him, explaining why not to pull right in front of a heavy load.  He was so scared he took off right in the middle of the red light.  I didnt get his plate number.

Every single time you go up the canyon....there's a chance you may not come back.

I've had soccer mom's pull out dead in front of me. People run yeild signs and end up in my lane dead in front of me with me swerved a lane over and my tail end in the next, and one time it went past a close call in my daily driving adventures.


That happened the night before Overhaulin' took my Dad's Challenger. Having a 'stolen' Challenger where I knew what was happening to it, and a wrecked 'Cuda kinda sucked. But they're both back on the road now.

A friend of my dad's at a fully restored 35 ford cabriolet and paid (back in the 80's) $3500 for a NOS grille shell for it. One day (recently after the completion of the restoration) he was driving down the road going 35 (the posted speed limit) and an old lady pulled out in front of him and he t-boned her. He went up to her and she said and I qoute "going a little fast there weren't you sonny?" Needless to say that was the only time he wanted to beat an old woman.

That reminds me how much I hate people. 

That reminds me of how much I hate deer too. Hit one with my daily driver, got lucky with my Chally. I guess the exhaust noise spooked it.
