High speed chase ends in crash in my neighborhood
« on: August 08, 2007 - 08:02:33 PM »
Last night, 3:45 am, sound asleep. We both wake up to the sound of police sirens in loud stereo. It seemed like they were everywhere all around. The living room lit up like a bright Christmas tree on the other side of the blinds. I didn't need any coffee at that point to wake up. So the curiosity is getting to me after 10 minutes of them howling outside just across the street.

I throw on my shorts and T shirt and go outside. I start talking with my neighbor. He didn't know what was going on either. We kinda peer down the dead end street across the way and it is completely clogged in with cop cars. I start counting them and I saw 15 of them. Later on a neighbor corrected me and said there were 21 and a SWAT team.
So I go back in and still wondering what the Hell happened.

I get to work and I start looking for the town newspaper. I find the guy who does police reports and I e-mail him.

I wrote:
What went on last night near the old Nursery in Niles? There were 15 cop cars and a paramedic. Robbery? Murder?

He wrote me back:
I'm in the middle of trying to get all the information. But from what I know so far is that there was a burglary in Sunnyvale (12 miles away) and officers from the department chased the minivan into Fremont. At some point, Fremont cops took over and persued the van into Niles, (where I live) where the vehicle crashed. the driver and passenger tried to flee, according to cops, but one was bit by a Police dog and the other was stunned with a Taser. Both arrested, treated at local hospitals and then arrested and turned over to Sunnyvale Police.

Some real excitement last night. It was just like watching the TV show Cops in person.

The chase could have gotten 'way more interesting if the minivan made it to Niles Canyon. They might have splattered themselves on the railroad trestle or landed in the creek.

I wonder where in Sunnyvale the crime took place, cause that is where I live. I wish I could have seen it.

Yeah, not to get all political, they should kill more criminals.  Really!!  Maybe then they'd stop jacking our cars and ****!  You guys see the post from yesterday about the stolen '69 Superbee posted on the local Craigslist?  I'd be nuckin futs if someone ripped off my Challenger, and it's just a primered POS!!   :crying:

Hey, on a completely unrelated note, y'all are local!!!  We should all get together sometime for a picnic or something.

Topcat, I never realized you are so close to the Ohlone show, you lucky guy!!  We going to have a BBQ at your place next year?
