Recommended Tranny Shop In SoCal?
« on: August 09, 2007 - 04:31:12 PM »
First off, my apologies to tactransman, if I lived any closer, he would already have done the tranny in my R/T.  But, since I live on the left coast, I need some recommendations for any shops in the Los Angeles/Orange County areas.  The trans is a 727, #'s matching, shifts fine, works fine, but is now 37 years old and leaks like a sieve.  I have to pour 2 - 3 quarts of fluid into it every time I fire up the motor (granted that's only every 3 - 4 months), but it makes a mess out of every floor it sits over (I use 2 drip-pans and have had them overflowing from time to time).  I've looked at it and it needs to be taken out and every seal & bushing replaced.  I don't have a garage to work in (I'm temporarily living in a condo), don't have the equipment to pull it myself & ship it off to a shop, so I need someone in the area to freshen it up for me.

The only person I've talked to so far is the current owner of Art Carr's old shop, but since Art sold it in 1997 to him, I don't know what kind of rep he has.  He has renamed the shop "ACT Automotive", he is not far away from me, but I don't need my tranny wrecked by some yahoo that doesn't know Mopars.....

Thanks,
Robert

Do you have any Mopar clubs in your area? That is how I get a lot of my 727/904 work is by referrals from the local Mopar clubs. They will usually know if some one in your area is Mopar Tranny experienced.

I recommend this guy.  I spoke with him regarding a 5 speed installation.  He's a Mopar Only kind of shop.

Hawthorne, my old stompin' grounds before I moved to OC.  I'll pay him a visit tomorrow, I'll be in Gardena to pick up a new trailer.

Thanks for the lead!
