Takin' out that Dodge logo from Chall door panel
« on: August 14, 2007 - 10:03:54 PM »
Hey gang..
OK, I've ground down the heads of the logo studs, but apparently there's more to it than that... For those you have taken out the logo, was it drilling it out totally or will a little heat do it? I'm replacing the woodgrain on the door panel accent..

Thanks...

I just ground mine down and it came right out....   After I replaced the woodgrain, I put it back in, and used some liquid steel or glue (I forget) to "re-fasten" them.....

I ground mine down with a dremel and eventually they will pop right out...

Get a sharp nail, center it in the middle of the pin with two pieces of wood underneath either side of badge, and gently tap with small hammer on each pin (3)and it will drop out,to replace clean up pins and pop in and put araldite on to the pins,DONT glue the badge onto the new decal as the glue will melt it.

What I did was use the flat nose of a pair of pliers over the ends of the studs and twisted the pliers to round the studs, then the studs pushed right through.  To re-assemble, the new vinyl will hold them somewhat if you don't pre-pierce the vinyl, but a dab of silicone over the stud will hold it well.

Thanks guys.. I was able to finish the panels this weekend.. Turned out pretty good.. Just had to grind a little more with a spherical dremel grinding bit. That did the trick.. I was overly cautious.....
