Michigan 07 Tornado Damage
« on: August 25, 2007 - 08:45:47 AM »
Well, we got hit hard here in Howell Michigan.  Trees fell on my 05 stang (please no Ford jokes), roof caved in.  Lost about 200 trees, mostly 100' tall white pines.  Luckily the house and family are ok.  Only the dog was home,  he's a little scared right now but ok.  Powers been out for two days now.  Hope everybody else is ok.  Checked on some of the neigbors last night the tornado miss most people.  I am going out this morning to what else happened.  PS, that's my stang under that clump of leaves in photo# 2843

:scared: Man there is a lot of damage to clean up for sure, evidently the house was not damaged severely at least. Glad nobody got hurt in this. On a side note about firewood, you should NEVER burn anykind of pine in chiminy vented stoves or fireplaces, the pine tar will build up and can cause a fire. Seasoned hardwoods should be the only kind of wood used for inside units.

Yes we got hit so hard here in Howell that I saw a report on the Weather Channel this morning.  Alot of homes are damaged up Oak Grove area.  My brother's sister in laws house was destroyed but again no one was hurt so all is good.  It was definitely a nasty storm.

OFF TOPIC: Snowdog, we're having a car show tomorrow at the Freshman Campus at Highlander way and Grand River . . .suppose to be a nice day.  Come on by if you get time.  11:00 to 3:00 and then a cruise through Howell with a police escort.

Sorry to hear about the Mustang - Glad everyone was OK.  Like ksierens said, we got lucky on the East side.  But the folks in Fenton, Howell, and that area north of you really got hit.  Reminds me of how it used to be when I lived in Central Illinois!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.  Here's somemore pics of my neigbors property and homes.  The pole barn is right next to my property.  The house is just down the road.
4Cruizin, sorry to hear about your brothers sister-in house,  we're are about 2 miles northeast of Oak Grove in Deerfield Twp.  Thank for that for the info about the show,  I'm going to try and make there and get my mind off this mess.

Mopar_guy, Thanks comments about the house, I including a pic of the front of the house before the storm.  House is still the same just less trees.

Don't worry I won't burn the pine.
