No rear brakes!

Spent the w/e working on brakes, all new lines are installed, rebuilt calipers/master/booster, good shoes/cylinders out back, but.....cant get any juice to the rears- fronts are good now, so, it looks like the proportioning valve will have to come off a 3rd time. We cleaned it up, but I believe the piston is stuck.

Can anyone help me with the proportioning valve?We took the line off at the junction in the rear and there is NO fluid getting back there.

PS: I didnt have all 4  locking clips things on the front brake pad pins. I assumed they were to keep the pins from coming loose, but didnt really see how. It looked like the needed to be spread apart before tightening down the pins. How about it experts?

the clips are just anti rattle clips , bend them out & reuse them

not sure of your model, I have a '73 manual & this is what it says about bleeding brakes. This is for front disc-brake models with combination metering valve/brake warning switch.

Because the valve assemblies in these models are mounted vertically (referring to the metering valve) the following procedure should be followed.
1) Crack a front bleeder screw & apply the brakes to produce  a front failure condition ( the warning light will come on & stay on)
2) Bleed the rear brakes using any of the three approved methods.
3) Bleed the front brakes using any of the approved methods.
4) After bleeding both brake systems apply the brakes with moderate force. This will hydraulically recenter the brake warning switch and turn off the warning light.

Rent or borrow a power bleeder. Every time I have had brake problems, that always took care of them, because it quickly eliminates air locks and air bubbles. Added bonus is that you can do everything yourself.

We tried bleeding the fronts first, they work well now, but still cant get the fluid to go to the rear. doesnt this sound like the proportioning valve is stuck? What can we do to get it free? We already opened it up and cleaned it out, but the piston was stuck, can I soak it in PBBLAster or is there rubber in side?

I sent you a PM, but you should Never bleed the fronts first. Always do them in the same order: (1. Rear wheel opposite the mater cylinder (2. Other rear wheel (3. Front wheel opposite the master cylinder (4. Other front wheel (5. Proportioning valve, if applicable (6. Master cylinder, if applicable

Yes, I agree with your logic and did start with the rears but after not getting any fluid I decided to try the fronts. Someone else gave me a tip on the proportioning valve, it seems to be the culpret.
