True-Trac and 8 3/4 Rear

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there who happened to read the article
by Richard Ehrenberg in the December 2007 issue of Mopar Action, had any
comments about using E-body axles in a B-Body housing. They used Moser
custom axles that were 3/4 inch longer than stock so the Timken bearings
could still be used when running the True Trac diff. Am I correct that e-body
axles are also 3/4 inch longer than b-body units? I thought it sounded like
a way for the guys like myself who want to run the b-body rear housing
in an E-body and also keep the Timkens plus be able to run the True-Trac,
could do it without the expense of new custom axles! Sound possible?  Jeff

I havent seen that one before...lol. But, I would think it's do-able, so long as the end play was very carefully set. The axles will be butting each other. So not enough clearance and they will hurt each other. Too much and the ebarings may have issues. Having run Green type bearings for years on everything from daily drivers to drag cars to road racing type vehicles.. I just use them if the rue Trac goes in.
