Sending Unit ?'s
« on: September 05, 2007 - 11:53:37 PM »
I just got a new 3/8 sending unit for my new fuel system, since the old 5/16 sending unit was too small for the fuel line I was using.  I ordered it and forgot that it had the 1/4" fuel return tube, and since I have an ECS tank with the 4 vents in the front of the tank (venting into the frame via the vapor separator)  I want to block off the return line.

What is the best way to block off the 1/4" return line?  Does anyone make a 1/4" cork?

thanks in advance!

I would use a short piece of fuel hose & slide a 1/4" smooth steel pin into it & clamp it

I used a type of "cement" and blocked the holes up... I imagine JB Weld em up also would work... but like CP said his way works and is reverable if ever wanna use the return line...

a vacuum cap.

:iagree:  Though what engine are you running?  My 440 used to vapor lock when it got hot because the previous owner got rid of the vapor separator and plugged off the return line.

A vacuum cap May not stand up to fuel for very long

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I'm going to throw a vacuum cap on there for now, until I can get a 1/4" hose and plug.

I used a threaded bolt.....sealed it up tighter than a coffin.....and if I need ot back it out to use it, I can always to that too....
