XV Open Track Event - Just for Musclecars
« on: June 22, 2007 - 02:59:28 PM »
Well, here is the official announcement!

We've put together a real open track / driving school event exclusively for classic musclecars.

We've rented a 1.5 mile road course and 3,300 front straight.  Track was selected to be optimal for these types of cars, so you'll be able to use you Horsepower, Suspension and brakes.

This is being held on a real deal road race course - not an auto-cross.

Professional instructors will be on hand to help out whether it is your first time on a road race course, or you are a track veteran looking to sharpen your skills. Look at the flyer and you'll see this is a full driving school type event with instructors available every step of the way.

We're super excited about this and it has been many months in the making.  All you need to do is sign up and come out and play - we've done all the hard work!

All makes and models welcome - but I'm hoping we don't end up with all Chevy's besides us!  Come on guys!!

We'd like to see some cars with Alterkation, Magnum Force and other setups as well!!

And for those of you who have been wondering, here's your chance to see what our cars really do, up close and personal!  Maybe even get a ride in one on track....

Anyway the flyer below has all the details.  We're limiting the number of entries so everyone gets plenty of track time.  We're also allowing a limited number of spectators to attend.  ALL must register in advance.

Whether you bring your car to play or just want to watch there should be some pretty serious hardware in attendance.  Can't speak for anyone else, but we'll be ready to wring out some of our cars.

Hope you're able to come out and play with us.

Here's the details:

John,
That's really awesome. I wish I lived closer so I could check it out in person. Please take some video coverage. I think it's really great and takes some guts to invite cars with competitor's suspensions along with stock based set ups. This is going to give you some great credibility. It will help to have some comparison data.

Will you be doing real measurements? G force, etc?

Great!

There's a very good possibility the enire event will be filmed for a TV show, as one of their episodes.
I'm hoping we get some more Mopar guys, otherwise it's going to be almost all Chevy's!!

We have no issue running with any other platforms - we haven't heard of any of the other setups actually being run on a road race course.  I'm hoping we get to see some that actually do.

We can get telemetry, etc. pretty easily and have considerd doing time trials at the end of the day, but the main focus of this is to make this a fun event rather than a competition.  I think it's more important to give anyone an opportunity to run their car on a track in an organized and  controlled environment, rather than where the guy who's never done something like this may feel intimidated.

This is about having fun and seeing what you and your car can do on a real road race course.
And best of all, it will only be muscle cars on track.

So who's ready to run their Mopar?  :2thumbs:

Update on our event....

The producers of American Musclecar TV show will be filming our open track event.

So, any of you who would like to:

1. Throw your car around a road race track for the day
2. Have professional instructors show you how to get around the track faster and safer
3. Check out some classic rides set up to corner
4. Get your car on TV

should sign up!

We'd like to get more Mopars out for this.

Should be a blast

So anyone here interested in going fast around some corners?
Hope some of you can make it.

I'm interested.  What is the safety tech inspection requirements.  Don't want to show and then be told NO.  Any info on this aspect?

Basic safety requirements, not race.
So mechanically sound.
Download the document I believe there are more details in there.

Converts need a rollbar.

I wish this would have happened about a year from now. That's what I'm building my car for. Going fast and turning left AND right.

Can't wait to see teh show when it comes out. :2thumbs:
