I would assume its a scam
« on: October 30, 2007 - 09:57:59 AM »
Why does it have to happen the first time I try to sell something?  I was selling a Car CD player on the bay, and ebay sent me this message:

Dear 71-bigblock,

The results of the following listing(s) have been cancelled due to bidding activity that took place without the account owner's authorization:

290174067568 PIONEER AM/FM/CD PLAYER CAR

We have cancelled the listing(s) to maintain the integrity of the eBay site, your account, and the bidder?s account that was accessed. We are working to restore the bidding account to its rightful owner, and we are working with the account owner to prevent any additional unauthorized activity. Since the account owner did not initiate these bids, all fees resulting from the listings in question will be credited to your account within 7 days. If you do not see the credits posted to your account after 7 days, please feel free to contact us through ?Contact Us? in our Help section.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to automatically relist these items for you. Instead, to relist these items you will need to start from the beginning of the listing process, either through the "Sell Your Item" process or through your third party listing service. We know that this is an inconvenience and we apologize for the negative impact it may cause you. We are working on tools to allow you to relist your items without starting from the beginning, but they are not available at this time.

Do not respond to this email, as your reply will not be received. If there are issues that have not been addressed by this message, you can contact us by clicking the "Help" link located at the top of most eBay pages and selecting "Contact Us" from the menu on the left hand side of the page.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

So I'm like, yeah, its a scam.  Then yesterday I got this:

Hello,
You ought to have gotten payment from Paypal by now, payment has been made and fund has been deducted from my account,so i'll advice you proceed with the shipment of the item asap. get back to me.

It's awesome doing business with you.

Best regards.

So I'm pretty positive its a scam.  I contacted ebay, we'll see what happens.  But there is $$ waiting at my paypal account, how do I cancel that?  So confusing.   :pullinghair:

That's one of the reasons I stopped using Paypal. When I sell something, the only thing I will accept is a postal money order.

 :iagree:

I never liked PayPal when it was semi-independent. Now that it's a wholly-owned subsidiary of eBay I avoid it like the plague.

I also don't like Pay Pal ,when I sell or buy transaction payment is by personal check or money order and certified mail

I've never had a problem with Paypal.  They did protect me when a seller tried to scam me.  As a buyer, I stay away from those who don't use Paypal unless I just have to have the item.  As a seller, I don't want to wait 30 days for a cheque to clear.  Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if I was in the US as opposed to Canada but cheque clearing is very slow for out of country transactions.  I haven't sold any big dollar items so perhaps Paypal doesn't make sense for these. I don't know.
