XV ehaust kits plus cool undercar pics

Just noticed xv has released their 3 inch stainless exhaust. Looks pretty cool. Has the "if you want to play you gotta pay" price of $1500.
Some really good under car shots for those of us studying more than just the exhaust systems.

Nice. But God I hate "Buick" ball collectors... It's pretty, but not something I think I'll be using.

I really don't care for the Buick/mustang ball and cone style connectors either. I prefer them over the typical 3 bolt header flange that tend to leak and have less ground clearance. I have become a big fan of v-band clamps, but they are pretty pricey. They seal really well, but not very forgiving for adjustments.

The ball and cone type is OE on my smallblock exhaust manifolds; I would have looked at the same type on headers as a mopar-like improvement over the flat three-bolt flanges.

  They seal better and don't require a gasket.

They seal the same. Sealed is sealed...lol. But, they dont look as good, and with only two bolts, the movement of the engine and lack of movement in the exh system will cause leaks over time. I did custom exhaust for a couple years a long time ago. We tried Buick Balls back in 1990. They sucked then too...

So, you recommned welding all the exhaust with no connections or is there another secret we should know about? If you try to tell me regular three bolt header flanges seal great I'll call you a fruitcake Maybe using half inch thick flanges so they never warp, but even then they allow no adjustability in a mass produced setting. Movement is always an issue as well. Solid accordian style exhaust tubes end up cracking, woven mesh crack and leak, I don't know of any lifetime flexible exhaust connections.
