73 Performer Intake and Carb

 Hello Ebody Fan's!!! I have a problem deciding on my carburater, Intake situation. I have a 73, 340 Rallye, #'s matching. Engine was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. Right now it has a Edelbrock performer manifold and a Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm. Response is good but, I think it could use a little more fuel down the stretch. I would like to install a Edelbrock Performer R.P.M. Airgap with a Holley Street Avenger 770. Some have told me that this would be too much fuel for a small block. But, most these guy's are Bowtie fan's. I want to do this but, don't want to throw money away and be unhappy about it. :clueless: What do you Mopar Bud's think about it? :dunno: Thank's, Pat

do it , you will not regret it , the other carb option is the HP street 750  carb 82751 I think

I love the Avengers. Great carbs. But... the 770 Avenger is the equal of an 830cfm 4150 series Holley. Too big IMO for a mild 340 and street gears. I'd go with a 750 Edelbrock AVS style, or the old school 3310 Holley vaccum secondary.

  Thats the set up I'm running on my 71 340. My motor has been bored .030 and a bigger cam. I need to do some fine tuning yet but I have had no problems with it straight from the box. The only thing is you will need to get a drop down base air cleaner setup for clearance with the hood. I really like it---this is the first time I have run a holley carb.

Thank's for all the replie's guy's! Upon further review, I'm also thinking of putting a Street Avenger 670 instead. I think that would be a safe choice for now. I still don't know exactly what kind of R.V. cam that I have. Still don't know how the head's were done in the rebuild. Since everything was built to work together, I may be messing with performance by installing RPM Airgap as well. I'll alway's have time and probably more money later to build one hell of a stroker! :thumbsup: :cheers:Pat

bentpshrods.........>  I noticed that your 340 engine has what looks like graduated timing marks on the damper.  Where did you get that from?   :clueless:

looks like a timing tape attached to the harmonic balancer?  :dunno:

 What about a Phenolic 4 hole 1" spacer to compliment the Edelbrock Performer, non-RPM, and the Street Avenger 670 Carb. Anything to gain there? :dunno:
