Horn won't work-tried direct power too
« on: September 16, 2007 - 05:14:39 PM »
No wthat I got the Hemi up and running I am tending to smaller issues. The horns won't work. I have put direct power from battery and still nothing. Is there anythging else to check on actual horns to determine whether they are good or not?

IF they are properly connected to ground, and IF you run a wire from the "+" side of the battery, to their terminal(s), and nothing happens, then the horns are dead.  Have you checked each horn? Hard to believe they are both dead, but maybe.  :dunno:

That is exactly what I did and no beep!
Checked both horns, in fact removed them scuff down to ensure ground, grounded each one and put powwer to them, no dice! ANy other tricks, seems pretty straight forward.

Stoopid question here......   Was the battery fully charged and were the wires used to test the horns solid?    :dunno:    I'm with Mikey here, kinda weird for both of them to be dead at the same time....    :clueless:   :1zhelp:

One last suggestion before you throw em in the trash pile.  There is an adjusting screw near the center of the diaphram that vibrates that adjusts the pitch of the horn.  If it is too tight, or too loose---no beep.  Check that before you bury them forever......

Hit them with a rubber hammer.

I had one horn stick. It worked well after that.

A whole lot of rust and very little time to work on it...
