did you ever state what size radiator and how many rows? I also had a cooling problem that went away just going from a 2 row to a 3 row rad. If you have the stock shroud and fan and it is working right then you either have tight pistons that are causing the heat or you just need bigger radiator capacity imo

engine is broken in, its a factory 26"  that was upgraded from 2row to 3row. However, I think the cores they replaced it with are a smaller tube diameter and probably didn't increase capacity much.

They say the balanced t-stat allows better flow, I should get one of those and test it. Somehow, I doubt its going to be that substantial an improvement.

as a follow up, I did get the smaller W/P pulley cut and it made a considerable difference. :money:

The new pump put my W/P ratio at 1.25:1  I took the car out for an extended run in both stop and go and open straightaway driving and temps never reached 210*. OAT was a bit cooler at around 90* and am still running the stock style 180* tstat with the hole drilled.

So I finally have seen an improvement. I am unsure if I will have issues during our 105* indian summer days here in DFW but things look much better now. Maybe a copper 4core will give me more stability for higher OAT's and a low profile SPAL tucked in between the rad and the AC core for emergency use.

The moral to my story is unless your cooling system and engine tune are in top notch shape, stay away from the underdriven pulleys for street use.

this one needs to go in the tech archives.
