The REAL heartbeat of America!
« on: September 26, 2007 - 07:41:53 PM »
I got my new Hemi block the other day!  :bananasmi It's the heart of the beast and to me the REAL Heartbeat of America. I personalized it with my own stampings and took pic's so if anything happens I will know it's mine.  :grinyes:

Very cool! :clapping: :woo: Is that a cast iron or aluminium block?  :dunno:
Sorry, I have no idea but I'm guessing aluminium because isn't cast darker?

I'm guessing cast.  Aluminum would stamp very easy, and those stamps look like they went kinda hard.  Plus, cast, when new, is very shiny.

Looks great.   :woo:

:wave:It's a cast block. I couldn't see spending over 5 grand on a aluminum block. :grinno:
This was less than half that. I'm trying to be VERY conservative. Mopar Perf. wants $750.00+ per carb. for my crossram. I bought both carbs, (new and the correct #'s), 4 weeks ago for $995.00 and free shipping. Since then the same seller I bought mine from has raised his price to $1295.00 and $15.00 shipping! Mopar Perf. wants $650.00 for a pair of new black wrinkle valve covers. I bought a set off e-bay that were original 66, stripped and painted correct wrinkle finish for $205.00. They look like brand new! All the stud holes and rails are as straight as can be. The list goes on and on for me. Complete rocker-shaft assemblys, brand new for $990.00. Mopar perf. over $2500.00. New 4.250 stroke crankshaft from C.A.T., $438.00. (bought off e-bay) This crankshaft from C.A.T. costs $5550.00. I saved over $300.00 on my block by shopping around. I got great deals on my water pump housing and water pump. I got a great deal on my aluminum hemi heads. I'm going to get this 600+ hp beast together for less than $10,000. It's no crate motor so I won't have to worry about it falling apart. If something goes wrong I will have nobody to blame but my-self. :grinyes:
