If the enamel has a hardener in it when sprayed you should be fine. If you use PPG DBC system be sure to use DX 57 in the base.

Just dont use laquer for prime or color stuff. That's if you could even still get it. either enamel or urethane will be fine.

You might want to talk to the paint supplier about using a sealer.  My understanding is that this product prevents compatibility problems with different paint types.  I know that this product was used on my Demon when it was painted.

DX-57 is a additive for  PPG DBC base coat paint. It allows touch up later without a possible lifting problem If it needs to be resprayed. It also makes the base a little easier to check color match over the full flat look of base with out it.

ah, thanks. now, i've got another question in this area. how about touching up small areas with Bc/Clear. can i wetsand a small area of a panel, color whats needed, and clear out over a little wider area and actually wet sand and buff it un-noticeably?? or am i gonna have to clear the entire panel.

i figure i may be able to feather off at the end of the clear coat and blend it in with the rest of the clear coat.

 :dunno:

thanks for all of the help guys.

Yes and no. If you know what clear is on it now you may be able to do it ,if not it may cause several problems.
I would clear the entire panel to keep from having a dry line appear later as the clear edge drys at a different rate than what is on it now.
If you want to do the clear blend use a blending solvent to go over the blend area. This will allow the edge to be buffed in easier.
Again though I would clear the entire panel over this method.
