From Stock To Not...
« on: October 05, 2007 - 05:37:49 PM »
I was taking a look at the new FBO ET Slayer carb and it piqued my interest to say the least. As of right now I've got a stock 340 but I've been looking forward to emptying out my wallet on it for quite some time. What sort of changes would I need to make on my stock 340 to take full advantage of a carb like that?

By the way... I love this forum....   :ylsuper:

Do you have a link or part number. I went to their site, and I see they have Demon carbs, but I'm not sure what the slayer carb is.   :clueless:

Sith,

I have seen the B-G's and the FBO stuff.  My opinion is that for your setup and what you are doing with the car, they wouldn't be a worthwhile purchase.  They are talking high g-force, ultra quick accelerating drag cars for their targeted market.  The different fuel feed needle/seat combos and floats MIGHT help you get a little more consistent ET.  Notice, they never said lower ET's or higher MPH, just more consistent as measured on the timing lights in 0.001ths of a second.  You will NEVER notice this on a near stock 340 in a street car.  There are better places to spend your money on your car imho........    :cooldancing:

Fair enough. Just curious what would you suggest would be a wise path to take as far as performance enhancements go? I dont plan on taking her to the strip until later on in life (much later). For now I'm happy with a great sound and the ability to rough up a few ricers between lights.

To be honest I'm only 19 and this is my first car (that I bought not mommy or daddy.. thats not the kind of person I am). My money is burning a hole in my pocket and I'd rather be burning rubber  :burnout:

Not sure of your budget or time constraints, or the overall condition of your 340.  If the engine is relatively fresh, then I would do the old tried and true bolt ons for the first money spent.  Headers and exhaust, intake and carb, maybe a little better cam, and ignition.  Not neccesarily in that order, but those are the basics.  You can go crazy with higher compression pistons, aftermarket aluminum heads, forged internals, roller cam stuff, stroker stuff and on and on.......   :cooldancing:

I just bought a mighty demon carb, fuel pump, and AN fittings from FBO. You should give DON a call. He'll help you figure out the best setup for your car.
