'73 Challenger Radio Wiring
« on: October 05, 2007 - 08:37:14 PM »

I pulled out my radio yesterday to test and make sure it still worked because it hadnt been playing since I got the car a few months ago. I connected it up and ran it to a speaker I had laying around and after some trial and error I got it running but I can't figure out what the extra red wire is. Its pretty much the same color as the wire that runs to the battery but when I connect it up the radio doesnt do anything. Any ideas?   :1zhelp:

It looks OrANGE, so I would imagine it is a light on the front of the radio.  Would come on with the dash lights.  I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that would be it.

One wire I believe should be a power wire that is only hot when the ignition is turned on.

I thought it might be a light too but when I plugged it in no light came on... I think I'll open it up and see if there is a light in there... I'll be sure to take pics while I'm at it. Thanks.
