in your profile look on the list on the left side, select NOTIFICATIONS & EMAIL uncheck any boxes & set the drop down menu to NOTHING AT ALL then click SAVE SETTINGS button.
This can be overridden if you select NOTIFY on the menu of any topic, but a confirmation button appears even then to say yes or no.
