Wiper parking problem.......73 Cuda

Getting down to the short strokes now and not that I plan to use them ,Ihave my wipers going to/fro on the windshield but when i turn them off they stop anywhere you turn the switch off????I presume they should go and tuck down behind the hood on the stainless trim. how do you adjust them to do this?Also they 'bump' pretty good going over that trim edge even with it now snug to the windshield. Not that it matters but I appear to have 3 speed wipers, since the switch has 3 detents when rotated but I'm only getting one speed??Mines a 73 Cuda. Already have ran a separate ground wire from the wiper motor to the battery but no change......any other Ideas....thx.....

It might be something in the wiring.  Mine would do the same thing from time to time, and it would correspond with a gremlin that pops up from time to time with my dimmer switch, of all things.  It's the weirdest thing, I would turn the wiper switch, and while turning the wipers on, the dome light would come on and would dim like a 3 way light switch as I rotated the wiper switch  .  It's happened 2 or 3 times in the past several years, and when I turned the wiper switch off, the blades would stop wherever they were instead of parking.  It's sporadic, but a similar problem.

I'm with the rest of you.     I just try to time when I turn the switch off.    I've heard the problem is the wiper motor not being grounded properly. I haven't tried to fool with it.

Make sure you have all the screws in the switch panel, one is the ground for the wipers, I think it is a bottom one can't remember. If it is missing or loose they will do this.

Will there be a wire connected to that screw..

burnt69......is this a screw from the backside of the dash or front as in you need to pull the front panel? i've got a ground wire now from the wiper motor to the battery? When your wipers cycle do they stay on the glass or go down to the park position on the stainless trim on each cycle??.......thx

They stay on the glass and only go on the trim in the Park mode.

What Burnt69 was saying is that the switch has to be grounded too.  It is screwed into a sheet metal panel with the dimmer and light switch and that panel has to be grounded to the body (with some sheet metal screws).  To try things out you can connect a temporary ground wire to the switch or metal panel and see if it helps. 
There is a little gizmo in the switch that reverses the current to the motor when you turn it off.  And when the motor turns backwards, the ecentric shaft in the front of the wiper motor housing goes to the park position and a little switch is hit to cut the power.  If the switch is bad (or not grounded), the motor will never park. Someplace in the "rest of the tech" strand there is some info on testing the motor.

there's plenty of other threads for step by step diagnostics, i used this one last time I needed to check mine. For what it's worth my local auto stor had a 73 style motor in stock remanufactured for less thean $100. I don't really care about the correct case numbers and it worked fine with an easy mody to the arm on my 70, just open the hole up a little. only downside is the remans are spraypainted black all over so they don't look correct.
