I bought my 71 318 Challenger vert off of ebay in Oct of 2006. After fixing all of the rust on my "Cuda, I thought I could easily do the same on a vert and it would be worth so much more money. I drove a friends to a local cruise one night and with the top down and the stars overhead, I decided that I better find one before the prices went crazy. I made a deal with the seller when I called him to ask about it. He wanted to sell badly and I told him that my wife and I talked it over and were afraid that there was no car at all. He waived the deposit, so I did a buy it now to end the auction after agreeing on a lower price. I then headed to Texas to get it. I found out that one of the other bidders, looked up my seller and was there the day before offering him $2000 more than my price, if he would sell it to him. It is now sleeping in the 3rd spot of my 3 car garage so I can dream about it being done. It will be a pace car when finished with a white interior. It is very rusty right now but the longer I wait, the more new parts are being reproduced.
It's a 318, power top, power windows, power disc brakes and A/C, console car. Funny thing is that 20 years ago, this thing would have sold for $500 or been scrapped. ANY e-body vert is worth having.
