Should I....
« on: December 13, 2007 - 12:05:57 AM »
Well every winter I think about selling my Cuda. I recently put it on Racingjunk.com and have had a few responses. I listed it with a high price because I dont need to sale it but I would for that price. But now I have a couple of guys who are very serious (I  think) about buying the car. I think if I do sale it I will have to find another one right away to keep me stable. I want to make a pro touring car out of my 69 Swinger but it is not a E body. (you guys know what i mean) So I would hate to see it go but money talks....I guess. Or am I just  :screwy:

I have thought about selling my 70 Cuda more than once when someone was offering big bucks but my wife always reminded me of how long it took me to find and restore this Cuda. If you sell it make sure you can replace it or get enough money for it so you won't miss the car.

70 Plymouth Cuda 340 4-speed
71 Dodge Challenger RT 340 automatic
1973 Dodge Challenger 360 automatic EFI
2002 Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide

2009 Challenger RT Classic B5 Blue
2014 Ram Express 5.7 Hemi 4X4

I did it once ... I watched my car drive away & I have never forgotten that feeling , once I replaced it I have turned down any & all offers , the money just doesn`t mean as much to me

Whether or not to sell it is a pretty personal decision.  I can tell you that I personally would not unless I
a.) needed the money for family reasons
b.) wanted to use the money to enable me to get a nicer car
c.) lost interest, and wanted to pursue other hobbies or interests with the cash
d.) was offered a stupid amount of money that would let me do 2 of the three above

Be careful though, once they are gone - they are usually gone for good.  If (when) you wish you had it back, a fatter savings account will be very little comfort.

Just my opinion.

I agree with all the above.  If you are on the fence about selling I would say don't do it.  If there is the least bit of doubt you will most likely regret it at some point.  You will never be able to replace it in your mind, no matter how much you get for it.  If you are looking to sell to go in a different direction (A/B Body), then it might be more of a consideration, but if you think at any point you will want another E Body, hold onto it.

I had a rust free black challenger when I joined. My dad got cancer and medicare cut out his 1500 buck a month shot to keep him alive. I sold the chally here to a member for 10k with a fresh 440 installed in it. I sure was sad and missed the car, but I paid for all the medicine for my dad to keep him alive till he had his surgery done. Now he is still alive and to me it is worth it. But I did go through e body withdralls and bought a 70 barracuda to fill the void. I was jonesing without an ebody in the garage. I hope to never sell this one. But family comes first. But now, I just put extra into the savings every week for family type emergencies like what happened in the past.

If you don't really need to sell it, then don't do it.  It isn't like the old days when we could just go find another driver cheap :2thumbs:
