440 Valve Cover Stud Location
« on: November 21, 2007 - 03:42:53 PM »
I received a "correct" engine fastener kit for my 440 six pack engine.  When I opened the valve cover bolt package a discovered that there were a some bolts and a couple of "studs" with nuts.  I suspect that these were used in the factory for maybe valve cover alignment - not sure.  Does anyone know why these studs were used, and what "position" or "location" are they used at on each valve cover??

Dan

Alignment of cover for ease of assembly at the factory would be my guess.

Thanks Chryco -

I assume that they are the "forward" lower corners - is that correct?

4 studs front & rear of both heads , I would use them in the rear if you only have 2 studs
