I just dont get it
« on: November 27, 2007 - 12:39:43 AM »
Maybe its just me but why would anyone in their right mind pay that kind of money for a non numbers car when you could get a restored numbers 383 car for close to the same price.Atleast to me once the numbers engine is gone,so is the pedegree,it might as well be a /6 car and CLONE IT.But thats just me

I don't know B codes (on the fender tag), but is this really a 440-6 car?

That's a rare car, I believe it's a little high for an unrestored car but it's not bad. As far as numbers go, I believe there are a lot of pristine restorations out there without the numbers block in them, so that wouldn't be a problem but if it did, it would drive up the price. Any of these cars are worth whatever anyone is willing to pay, silly way to put it but true.

I might tend to agree that the value is down on a regular production car but the A12 cars were made in very low numbers and are ultra rare. They were the first of their kind, many would say they are an all around better package than the hemi. I would much rather have a real A12 car with non numbers matching than a regular RR or Coronet with matching 383.

i guess we all like different things.I am a numbers guy to the bone.I dont care what the car came with if its no longer there.I would soon get tired of the countless people looking at it asking"Is it numbers matching? and i would have to say no.Without the original engine,it might as well be a clone, which it will be to some extent.

I guess my questions always boil down to this. What made the car from the factory a 440-6?was it some numbers stamped on a fender tag and vin tag,or was it the engine under the hood with the vin numbers on it?Food for thought...
Maybe the buyer will get a surprise, the pics look like it needs a resto, unless it a nice driver.I would still like to have it,just wouldn't be worth more than 10k for non numbers...to me.
