Trans Am racing on speed
« on: January 17, 2004 - 02:47:54 PM »
Anybody catch the classic racing series show the speed
channel running this week?
They take classic race cars and run them in their classes
over a weekend.
Not the hardest racing I've ever seen but the late sixties
early seventys Trans Am class is the only place to see
these cars on the track!
The T/A Challenger came in third but the Trans Am
segment only lasted 5 minutes :'( :'(
The mid sixties class was cool too but that's mostly a
Ford show

no AAR 'CUDAS in the show :'(

Thats because both of the AAR's are being restored. The former Ed Skanes car has been bought by the Lipetzs and is being freshened up. Nothing big just a few minor things to make it correct. The European AAR which was actually the last car that Dan Gurney drove before he retired is also in the midst (and almost done) of a restoration Randy Peterson is the current owner of that one. If that was shot within the last year thats probably why you didnt see them there. If it was shot much before that I know Ed Skanes usually wants the hosting track to pay him to bring the car out to any events so that may also have been a reason it wasnt there. There is a show in the works for 2005 which will re-unite all 3 race cars at one event so keep an eye and ear opened for further details on this. ;)
Dont forget to register your AAR at the AAR Registry only at www.transamcuda.com 1981 AAR's on file. Also info on 70 thru 74 E-Bodies. Ask me about yours!!

A buddy of mine works on vintage race cars-early 1900`s Bugattis and such-and I went to Lime rock with him last year for the vintage races, pretty cool! The Challenger T/A was there along with a bunch of Mustangs and a couple Camaros in the Trans Am class.
