70' Cuda Gearbox
« on: December 07, 2007 - 01:43:00 PM »
Just got the front end kits put on my cuda and think I need to replace/rebuild the gearbox.  It still has more slack in it than I would like.   :violin:

Any suggestions?
Does anyone sell new or rebuilt ones?

Thanks for your wisdom.

The Gear boxes are adjustable to a point if it is not too loose.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

If you are talking about the steering gear box I would try to adjust and if it is still loose I would have someone like Steer and Gear rebuilt it to firm feel as this will make it feel more like a rack and pinion front end.

yeah I'm talking steering gear box, not transmission. So, I think this is in the right area for the post...
Any thoughts?

Super news.  I'll give them a call Monday.
Next question, how bad of an install job are steering boxes?
Thanks

I assume this is a power system
they are not fun to remove but not too bad if you do not have headers

I'm planning on replacing mine too, but I think I'll wait till the motor is out.
