Duration @.50
« on: December 09, 2007 - 10:30:48 AM »
I know the duration @.50 is more accurate than advertised duration but what is the duration @ lash .020 for.... :working:

LIFT   LIFT            LIFT         LIFT                DURATION            DURATION     DURATION
 1.7     1.6          1.5             @ Cam          @ Lash .020”      @ .050”          @.200”
.681   .674”        .632”            .421”            287                  252           173

wanted use the .904 lifter advantage with the engle cam....I was always told to go by .50 and 252 seems very streetable with the high lift...

Yes , it should be reasonable , the overlap where both valves are open at the same time will affect it as well

The duration @ 0.050" number is meant as a way of more accurately comparing one grind to another rather than using the advertised duration.  I think that the duration before 0.050" doesn't matter anyway (valves aren't open enough)

You need to know what the lobe looks like. The more data points on that slope the better the picture you can develop. You've been told to compare at .050 lift rather than total duration, but carrying that idea to the next couple levels, the duration at lash is what it will really be once installed (and you can see that's 30° more over the next .030 lift..).
