Front bumper guard HELP !!!
« on: January 31, 2004 - 05:38:11 PM »
Anybody out there have a 70 Chally with front bumper guards??? MY car originally had them but were missing when I bought it. I bought two sets of them and neither set fits. The bumper is the original and was in perfect shape except I had it rechromed so I know it wasn't bent at all. The guards fit the bumper contour but the bolt hole doesn't line up.
Do they come with a bolt from the back of the bumper to the guard or does the guard have a stud in them that goes through the bumper and bracket and gets a nut???
I could drill out the bumper and bracket to make them work but I really don't want to do that or think I should have to. ANYBODY who has a 70 with front gaurds please check them out and HELP me out !!!
Thanks,
JS27

Bolt comes through from the backside.

I had a bumper that was rechromed and could not put my gaurds on.
Got another bumper and no problems now. I would suspect that they "straightened" your bumper for you.

My guards fit the contour of the bumper VERY tightly and actually squeezed the bumper as I tightened them into position.
let me know if you need a close-up pic:)

Here are my spares, Challenger one on the left, Dart on the right..you can see they are similar. They actually use the same rubber cushion

I thing I have two left side Dart ones??
Should be an L or a R stamped into the nut retaining bracket welded into the guard. If it has been rusty you may not see this anymore.
The bottom is tapered to match the taper of the bumper.
Hope this helps all.
