AM Radio Prices
« on: March 15, 2004 - 03:37:45 PM »
I just saw an AM radio, with no guarantee of working condition (other than it worked 10 years ago or something), go for $162.50 on ebay.

Is this reasonable? A bargain? Ridiculous?

(At least the seller didn't claim it came from a 71 Hemi Cuda convert, it would have sold for $1000)  :P

Yeah,
That's seems rediculous. If it were a 70 radio with the thumb wheels, it could be worth more. But $162.50 with unknown condition... I wouldn't bite.

70 thumb wheels are bringing in ~380 in no guarantee condition.

Seems like the radio resto companies want about that much to spruce them back up too.

Unfortunately, the going rate is about $100-$200 depending on condition. And you WILL have to have it repaired. Get one that LOOKS good. You don't really care if it works or not. It may work for a short while and/or  intermittently, but not for long, if at all. I bought an AM radio for my Satellite that was supposed to work and it did....for about 60 seconds at a time. Finally had it restored for about $140 and it works great.
