:iagree: i would use power steering fluid aswell. :faint:
I would most deffinetly steer clear of Top Shelf drinking fluids :drunk: It could get real messy, even before the power steer bottle got opened. :puke:

I used ATF once and the seals started leaking.  It's a 37 year old steering box though. :2cents:

Well, there is synthetic and conventional, so I guess there are two types of steering fluid. Since it is a hydraulic system, you could also use jack oil or brake fluid in there as well. Although they may be detrimental to its longevity and performance.

I have used atf for brake fluid before to get a broken 4x4 off a mountain and into civilization. It attacked all the rubber in the system and it required new master and wheel cylinders sometime later to restore adequate safety.

Our auto parts store sells one that is specifically for old Mopars.  It is a Sta-Lube (CRC) product and the label says it is for pre-89 Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler.  The counter man thought it was a little thicker than the regular Sta-Lube one.
