Original or one-owner cars?
« on: January 02, 2008 - 06:53:01 PM »
Anyone out there an original owner who still owns their car?
Any increase in market value if it is a one-owner?

I'm not but I believe a well looked after car with the original owner would definitely increase the value. This all depends on the condition of the car. An original owner who left it in a barn to rot obviously wouldn't get jack. A well cared for survivor or even a restored 1 owner car would as it gives people peace of mind knowing the person obviously cares for the car having it 38+ years and keeping it in the condition it's in, shows they must of loved the car.

A freind here in town is the original owner of a 38,000 mile '70  440 six pack 4 spd shaker hood Cuda. it's all original exept it was red when new and he wanted it black, so he put a cheap paint job on it and threw away the endura bumpers and put chrome ones on it when it was 3 years old. if he hadn't done that it would be a perfect survivor.

I fall into that category.  I am the original owner of my '73 Cuda and I still own it.

Increase in market value for a one owner?....Well, I would say so, because I could provide all of the history of the car without guessing.  For example, I could tell you how many oil changes my car had since leaving the factory 36 years ago.  It all adds up to what a willing buyer would pay to have that information first hand and know that it is 100% fact.

Here is one for you.  A 1970 Hemi Challenger R/T - Ordered by my father in the Fall of '69 - Car spent over 24 years in South America - Car is known as EL HEMI - Restored by Rick Kreuziger in 2005 - Father past away during resto - Quote from my old man: "3 wives, 2 dogs, SAME CAR".  Car still in the family - I am now the caretaker of EL HEMI with a 16 year old son and two nephews in line to make sure the car stays in the ESCALANTE FAMILY.  I am attaching a couple of pictures.  I hope they come out.

Increase in market value if its a one-owner car?  Maybe... although not relevant in our case.

Stunning car El Hemi, I've heard of this car before. I believe Mopar Muscle Magazine did an article on it.
Sure is a beauty and the car has great history. Best thing is, it couldn't be in better hands.

not all Ebodys, but locally there is a

1 owner B5 Daytona, nearly rotted to death

1 owner orange 72 Challenger, 340....all original and very nice

1 owner 69 B5 Dart GTS/340.....looks showroom new and has never been touched

1 owner 69 Z28 (also Blue), still hits the cruise ins locally and has about 400K miles, original engine and still looks very nice

.....and El HEMI

I have a white 70 T/A with 15K original miles that is unrestored and a real beauty, but it has had 4-5 owners
