Spray Guns

Anyone out there use the Binks M1-G or one of the SATA HVLP spray guns?  I am looking at purchasing the Binks gun, but would like to find out if the atomization is any better or worse between these two manufacturers.    I will be spraying primers, basecoat and clearcoat.

I don't know how the two brands compare, but my brother uses SATA guns and loves them.

I recently spoke to the owner of the paint store who said he used to paint that I frequent His opinion is that the atomization of the Binks over the Sata that the Binks had a better fan pattern. He also said that at the very end of the spray fan pattern there was less small blotches of uneven sized paint spot particles on the Binks vs. the Sata.
In a nutshell, the pattern was better in his opinion.

That was his opinion and not minewhen I asked him what were the differences of Binks vs. Sata.

Well my husband uses  the sata for clear coat and  uses his  iawata for painting both guns are nice and available thru eastwood.com

We use both for these guns and they both spray great. I like a Devilbiss better myself. One thing to consider though is the Sata has a problem with the casting on the handles. After about a year the needle threads will strip. They will warranty it and install a helicoil to repair. Also the repair/ rebuild kit is expensive and not complete.

Appreciate all the replies     I have always used my conventional siphon feed Binks for previous projects.  Other than lots of wasted overspray, it work great!  But it is time for a HVLP gun.  I could always try a roller, too.

Once you start using the hvlp guns I think you will never want to use anything else. I change about 4 years ago and thew all my regular guns in the trash. I'm wanting to buy a Devilbiss and it will be my christmas present to me.

I bought the SATA primer gun thinking it was a finish gun. $319. It lays sealer so smooth there's no nibs to knock down. Straight into your base coat. Then I bought the SATA Jet 3000 finish gun. The only paint gun that I had to really take some time to dial in. My Devilbiss that I could afford at that time were ready to spray, after cleaning the inside of course. The SATA Jet has many extra orifices to double atomize than my other guns. It was worth the $600 price. The Devilbiss guns did good at $135. Plastic cups are not a problem, no difference. All my new guns come with a plastic top. With the plastic tops on to shake up the laquer thinner to clean the gun causes them to pop off. Watch your eyes. The plastic also allowed me to enlarge the vent hole in the cap. Not much needed here but it helps when you get paint in the vent.

you should be fine with either one,but I'd invest in three guns, one for base ,the other for clear and a third one for primer,
I love my Walcom GEO FX 97 and won't trade it for anything,I paid only $500 for it

WoW!  Sorry to hyjack. I'm going to be needing another gun...or guns.    I have a cheapie for primers. But need one for color and/or clear. Do I need a gun for each? Any recomendations for a novice. That's broke. Got any used stuff? I only need to do this engine bay for now.  Just got primer.
