tach stops @ 3k

I have a non rallye tach that stops at 3000 rpm. Any ideas on the cause. Also what is the switch in the back for? Thanks

non ralley tach ? so you have a std dash with a tach installed ?
 must be a problem with the tach what ever make it is

Aftermarket tach, set for 4 cylinder engine...???  Or would that be the other way around...   :clueless:

This is the tach I have. Like I said there is switch with 3 positions on the back that I don't know what they are.
