New Clutch?
« on: January 10, 2008 - 02:09:10 PM »
I will be replacing the clutch in my cuda in the spring and i wanted to get some ideas on clutches.  As I look through the jegs catalog, there are many options for GM and Ford applications, but not many for Chrysler products.  I have a hays clutch in my 67 Camaro, and I like it pretty good.  The pedal doesn't work you to death in traffic, yet it still barks the tires with no problem.  What would be a good setup for my car?  A well built, high winding 340 with 4.10s.  Also, are there any exterior markings on the trans that would tell me if it is an 18 spline or a 23 spline unit?  The trans isn't original to the car so I do not know which one it is.

I use McLeod clutches , they have the Brog & Beck & borg & beck /Long style clutches , I will not use a Diaphragm style for a high torque engine , the stampings on the right side of the case with the Vin # do tell what gear set was installed originally or you can pull the inspection cover & check the diameter where the throwout brg slides to see if it is a 23 spline
