Parking Brake question

The parking brake on my car was working when I bought it, however, it wouldn't release the driver side brake correctly.  The adjusting hook had about 3 inches of nuts being used as spacers to get the tension on the cable.  The new cable doesn't seem to have the reach for the adjusting hook I have.  It is 15 inches from the hook part.  How long is the adjusting hook supposed to be?

If your referring to the threaded rod that hooks under the passenger side frame I'd say about 10"...if you need I can get an exact # for you.

If you have the 2 short rear cables, that hook is pretty long.

Rusty Cuda, thats my setup.
I searched the forums and found the shop manual pic and set it up like that, but at 15" the hook I have isn't long enough.  Yours looks to be longer than 15".

I will measure it up, not sure I can get out there today, going into the city to help my dad out, got a leak on his heating system, I should be able to measure it monday, if I had to guess I'd say 20ish inches,goes from one side almost to center of car. Rich.

K, I got home early enough to measure up that hook, It's 18" (give or take a tad) , hope that helps ya. Rich.

Thanks.  I guess the one I had isn't for an e-body.  That also explains why the replacement cable was shorter than the one it had in the first place.  Guess I gotta order one.

Anybody know where I can order  an adjusting hook?  Do they repop them or is it junkyard time ?

Post up in parts wanted, with all the part outs somebody has to have one,
 someone on ebay sold a kit, but not sure it that hook was in it? Rich.

This came in last week, but with the holidays I haven't had time.  Turns out the ebay vendor was www.inline-tube.com, they carried each piece of the parking brake setup. 

Wow, now thats a difference you can see.  Not only is the new one longer, its beefy.
