I have been thinking I would like to convert over to fuel injection.  Has anyone done this yet?  If so how did it turn out?
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

A friend of mine has swapped over to the Edelbrock Pro-jection kit on his big block in his 76 truck. Tuning is not the easiest thing so far. Definetly beneficial to put it on a chassis dyno and play with road load and throttle positions to see where the readings are at and what adjustments are needed. Without that, your simply guessing and your seat of the pants tune is no better than can be achieved with a carb. Tuning is also more involved since you are changing fuel and ignition mapping at selective points instead of an entire curve. He is still dialing it in, so he says at this point he hasn't seen where it is hugly better economy wise than his tweaked Thermoquad. Cold starts are easier and since he off roads the truck, off camber/extreme angle driving is better.

Thanks for the input I have been thinking of this for a while and was wondering if anyone else had tried it.

Hi

I have the Edelbrock Pro Flo Fuel Injection System on my small block 318. It is a real nice system and runs well. You can see some pictures here...

Thanks for the info and the link.  Did it help with fuel mileage or performance or both?

Yes, both were improved. Throttle response is very nice. The amount of fuel used is less, but I do not know how much exactly.

That is very good to know.   I am also wondering if anyone has converted over to multipoint fuel injection.

Edelbrock's Pro Flo EFI system is a multiport setup.

I converted me Cuda's engine to electronic fuel injection years ago.  And, last year I supercharged the engine.  For more details, you can review the following thread:

I was thinking of using the stock 360 Magnum FI setup with the throttle plate body and stock injectors on my surplus 340/833 to put into a Dart or similar. I was going to buy an aftermarket controller for it. CP reckons it would be good for around 5500RPM max without opening up the runners for more air. I got this manifold from the local pick-a-part for about $30. Is worth the experiment but trouble is I sold the engine yesterday to a local guy who bought this really nice 318 Challenger rolling chassis and imported it from Yakima WA.
