11 3/4 caliper adapters
« on: April 02, 2008 - 09:27:14 AM »
I have a chance to get a 11 3/4 pin type caliper adapters for my 74 cuda.   Should i go that route and use my original calipers  and 11 3/4 rotors or go with the dynalite calipers  from wildwood and the aftermarket caliper adapters and 11 3/4 rotors?

What are your plans for the car? i have stock rebuilt slider calipers on my 11 3/4 setup. Stops great around town. However any type of high heat situation they probably aren't the best for diving into corners back to back.

Well i installed the level 1 xv suspension last fall and i have a new 550hp engine to drop in this summer.    So the next thing is to do some brake up grades.  This is going to be a cruiser that i will occasionally drive it like i own it.

the most cost effective route is to use the factory 11.75 parts

Would the factory calipers have as much stopping power as the wilwood calipers on a 11 3/4 rotor?

i have 4 wheel disc brakes from wilwood, and they are alot lighter , out perform the stock brakes, they are 4 piston calipers, vs slider calipers, yes they are fine for the street, actually the stock brakes are quite good, however i glazed them , and turned them blue after 4 or 5 laps, so if you road race wilwood, if you plan to street , stock is the best way to go

For your usage, the stock calipers with semi-metallic pads will work fine.

The Wilwoods do look nice and will save you a few pounds per side, which is never a bad thing.

Comparison picture for your enjoyment.

"...The factory finally got their act together in 1976 with the introduction of the 11.75" unicast police rotors with cast-in reinforcing ribs ..."

Per the Mopar action article. So i would say no on the 1974 having the caliper adapters for 11 3/4" rotors

Hmm. Dunno, I've never checked it. I'd go check it, but the set I had are gone.
