Looking for a 340-360 Long Block
« on: January 02, 2008 - 12:19:22 PM »
Just found my 318 barracuda project has a cracked block that seller did not advise of!  :swear:
If anyone has a 340-360 Long Block FS please advise since I might as well upgrade now.
Thanks!
Richard

360 engine are everywhere , any wrecker should have a truck with a few the 360 is cheap & plentiful & should be cheaper even building it as a stroker than the 340 is to buy & build

Located in Wilmington, NC.
Would like a 68-74 motor to keep in line with the era.

I have a 1971 D100 with a low mileage 360 I would give you. 1971(first year) to 1974 or 5 360's are high in nickle content and as strong as the 340's were. However if you are open to later blocks, a Magnum would be the way to go because of the roller lifters. Some pre-Magnums had rollers in the 80's.
You should be worrying about the integrity of the block if you are going to be under 500 HP anyway. Then you might want to look at a stronger block and main girdle.
BTW, the truck is nearly a complet basket case due to rust. I always heard Dodge trucks would rust to the ground before they quit running and I guess they were right.

MS. I was just going to take it to the junkyard and get like a hundred bucks or something for it. I am leaving in a month for overseas and we are going to move from the rent house to an apartment so the wife won't have to worry about the lawn and stuff (Her idea). It needs to go somewhere. Quickly.

Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development
