TTI header Issues

Some of you know that I'm having issues with the convertible and my new TTI headers hitting the idler arm.  I spent the big money because I didn't want any issues and now  . . . I have issues.  :banghead:   Here is the solution that TTI is offering.   :eek4:

what is wierd is I have installed a # of others with no Issues why yours is different I cannot explain
possibly your idler arm mount is at slightly different angle or you have the incorrect idler arm that is slightly longer  :dunno:

maybe it has something to do with having a fast ratio steeringbox. I`m not sure about the idlerarm, but the length of the pitmanarm is different.
not funny though, spending buckets full of money, and still no bolt on procedure... :eek4:

What do you think about the fact that they want you to move the engine back to fix it.  With how badly it is hitting, I'm going to have to move it alot.  You would just think there is a better way like . . .  MAKE SOME THAT FIT?? 

 :clueless:  I didn't think I had a fast ratio steering box  . . are convertibles different in some way??  :dunno:

Hey 4C,

I would take as many pictures as you can of the problem area. Then I would call TTI and if you get the "move the engine" routine, ask for his boss, then his boss, etc.
Someone should want to see those pictures especially when they find you are a moderator of a very large mopar site. ;)

If I were with TTI I would make sure you would get a nice fitting set, no matter what!

Sam is the owner I talk to him regularly  , he is decent to deal with , Alena is the other person I deal with there she  is great to deal with as well
 maybe it is worth picking up a new idler arn from Moog for comparison , if it is identical tkae the part back if not change it out

I spent the big money for TTI's on my big block A-body and ran into the same type of interference problems. I talked to Sam directly a few times and his helpfulness was limited (he is a  very nice guy mind you). After paying out all that cash I too thought they would work better...live and learn. My small block TTI's on my Challenger fit very nice mind you.... ;). good luck.

Im getting ready to put on my 2" TTI's in my challenger.... hope I have no issues as i put in a new power steering box and a PST front suspension kit  :pullinghair:

We just waited 12 weeks for a set of Hooker headers for a car I am helping with , the flanges are so poorly made if you install the front bolt the rear bolt is off by 3/4 of the bolt thickness , the flanges are drilled approx 3/8" to long for the head ontop of that the front pipe on the left side is off by 3/4" of an inch & is trying to occupy the same space as the steering box

4C - I don't have the answer but mine are a country mile away from the end of the pitman arm. In fact the clearance is so good I could just about squeeze the fast ratio arm in if it is no more than 3/4" longer than stock. I have a 451/400B in a 73-340 K frame.
So the only explanation I can offer is that the quality of these units (cars) at manufacture were probably about as consistent as a politician's election promise. Also a big fender bender from the past might have rearranged things enough to affect in this matter, I know mine has been dinged. The only way to confirm this is with the FSM #'s and cross measurements.
