When replacing the filter lubricate the rubber round gasket on the filter with some engine oil dabbed on with your finger. Then when installing the filter - you hand screw it on. When the filter touches the block make a felt pen or pencil mark on the filter and go 3/4 turn more. No it won't vibrate off on you and it will be easy to get off next time. Some linebacker must have tightened the one you are mentioning about now. This works on my aeroplane and trust me... my arse is a lot more important up there than it is on the side of the road so I am waaaayyy more careful or else..... :angelwings:

My e-body is much more challenging on the oil change than my 01 Dodge.  My header collector is directly beneath the oil filter, and while getting it loose and removed isn't tough (as I'm always the one who installed it last time) getting it OUT often requires lowering the vehicle back down and taking out the top.  Then I put the new one in, rest it against the exhaust, raise the vehicle, and install it from underneath.  It's either that or pour warm, dirty oil all OVER my exhaust, frame, and SELF...

The dodge is great - oil filter points straight down to the ground, in front of the block.  Only the 03-05 (or so) Focus's are easier.  I swear those filters nearly drag the ground they stick out all by themselves below the (tiny little) motor.
